The founders of Nyansa Learning Corporation were driven to start an organization based on the philosophy that only when children, families and educators come together can a child's full potential be reached. Through years of education and experience, the staff at Nyansa has provided children with the best start possible by giving them the skills to reach their full potential.

Mike Carpenter, Ph.D., BCBA
Clinical Director
Mike received his Ph.D. from Claremont Graduate University in Applied Developmental Psychology, and is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. He has over a decade of experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Mike has worked at The Claremont Autism Center, The Cody Center at Stony Brook University, and the University of Washington Autism Center. He has provided a variety of services including: developing home programs, providing school consultation, providing parent and staff trainings, and completing functional behavioral assessments and behavior intervention plans to deal with challenging behaviors in home and school settings. He has completed research related to promoting functional communication and social behaviors in children with autism. [Link to CV]
Beth Porter, BA
Managing Director
As Managing Director, Beth oversees the management and administration for Nyansa Learning Corporation and ensures the highest quality services for parents and families as well as our staff. She received her B.A. from California State University Fullerton in Psychology, specializing in Child and Adolescent Studies. While attending CSUF she completed extensive independent research on autism, and in parallel helped mainstream children with autism through work at the Capistrano Unified School District. Upon graduation she began doing one to one behavior intervention using techniques such as DTT, PRT and PECS. This experience led into supervision of in-home programs and the position of Program Coordinator where she oversaw 35+ behavior interventionists and 50+ families that were provided services by the Regional Center of Orange County.
Tesa T. Dahl, MS, BCBA
Program Supervisor
With Tesa's extensive background and education, she assists in keeping Nyansa at the forefront of ABA service providers. She received her M.S. in Applied Behavior Analysis from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota and her undergraduate degree from South Dakota State University in the areas of Psychology and Child/Family Studies. Tesa is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and has experience working with children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities. Other work experience includes: parent training, functional behavioral assessments, teacher training, in-home behavior modification consultant and in-school behavior specialist.
Hsiaoying Chen, M.Ed., BCBA
Program Supervisor
Hsiaoying received her M.Ed degree in Early Childhood Special Education from the University of Texas at Austin. In addition to the required courses for Early Childhood Special Education, she undertook extra intensive ABA courses and is eligible to sit for the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) exam. The training she received includes functional assessment, functional communication training, AAC (Alternative and Augmentative Communication), DTT (Discrete trial training), and naturalistic teaching. Hsiaoying obtained her B.Ed degree in Special Education with the focus of children with mental retardation, cerebral palsy, and autism from Hsin-Chu Teachers College, Taiwan. Hsiaoying has experience working with children with special needs of various ages. She was a special education teacher in an elementary self-contained special education classroom. She also has experience working in-home and in the school setting as an early childhood special education educator. In addition, she assisted in facilitating university students with special needs.
Xeres Delemendo, MA, BCBA
Program Supervisor
Xeres received her Master's degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis at the University of the Pacific. She has completed courses in behavior analysis and supervised work experience to sit for the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) exam. She earned her BA degree from University of California, Irvine and has over seven years of experience working with families and children with autism spectrum disorders. In addition, Xeres has experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, adults diagnosed with mental illness, and typical preschool children with behavior problems. Her training includes conducting functional behavioral assessments, implementing function-based treatments, parent and teacher training.
Jennifer Fanzo, MA
Program Supervisor
Jennifer received her Master's degree in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling from the University of Phoenix, and is currently working on obtaining her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis on Children and Adolescents from Argosy University. She completed her undergraduate work at California State University, Chico earning a B.A. in Psychology with a focus in Child Development. In addition, Jennifer has completed several trainings in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Discrete Trial Teaching (DTT) and promoting functional communication. Her professional experience includes working in district preschools as well as doing in-home intervention and parent training with children of all ages.
Sandy Sran, MA, BCBA
Program Supervisor
Sandy received her MA in Psychology with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis from the University of the Pacific. She received her BS in Psychology and Biology from the University of Victoria (Victoria, Canada). Sandy is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and has worked with children and adults with developmental disabilities and mental illness. In addition to performing intensive one-to-one in-home services with children under three, Sandy also has experience conducting functional behavior assessments and developing behavior intervention plans for children in various school districts in Northern California. She has a background working in both special education and mainstreamed classroom settings.
Juliana Neely, MSW
Program Supervisor
Juliana received her Master’s degree in Social Work with a Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPSC) from California State University, Long Beach. She is currently enrolled at University of North Texas to continue education in Applied Behavior Analysis studying to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). She earned her undergraduate B.A. degree from California State University, Chico, in Psychology with an emphasis in child development and family relations. She has completed trainings in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Discrete Trial Teaching (DTT), and functional communication. Juliana has experience working with children with autism and other developmental disabilities, as well as performing one-to-one services with children under eight. In addition, she has worked in elementary schools counseling children with special needs and with general education students needing support.
